Pumpkin Power

Today is the first of October; the 274th day of the year. October is my favorite month. It is when I start to crave pumpkin everything from pumpkin spice lattes to pumpkin scented Yankee candles and pumpkin ice cream. I have already brought down the Halloween box from the attic and the boys and I have started to discuss our options for costumes.

October also makes me crave red wine and hearty beef stews or chili that makes my whole house smell like comfort. I bought my first bag of candy corn and have plans to take the boys to choose their pumpkins this weekend. Autumn is my season of strength, the season I feel the most connected to a higher power. The air is cooler and dryer, the leaves turn rich shades of red before their final decent to the ground and I just feel a sort of calm during this time of year that I do not feel any other time.

In honor of the beginning of October, here are a few quotes that I love about autumn.

"Delicious Autumn, my very soul is wedded to it and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns." ~ George Eliot

"Fall has always been my favorite season. The time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature had been saving up all year for the grande finale." ~Lauren DeStefano

"No spring nor summer beauty hath such grace as I have seen in one autumnal face." ~John Donne

Love & Light,

I found these two photos taken from last October. I don't recall the pumpkin drink, which means it had too much pumpkin flavored rum.

And my ninjas.
