Meeting of the MILFS

I have been wanting to join a book club for a long time. Maybe it is because I wanted to sound smart, "Why yes, my book club and I are reading War and Peace." (Which by the way I will never read, but it sounds very smart). Or maybe I was looking for intellectually stimulating conversations outside of Major League Baseball or poop talk (which both rank as second languages in our home). Or maybe I wanted an excuse to call up a few of my girlfriends and coax them with wine, chocolate and a night out away from their kids (not difficult to do).

So after far too long, I sent the e-mail out to five willing participants and we had our first official book club last week. In my e-mail to entice them to join I offered that we give a unique name to our club. After all, we do not want to be perceived as a bunch of stuffy old ladies sipping tea and discussing classics. No, that is not the group for us. So I designated us the MILF Book Club. If you do not know what MILF means, please don't google it. Google will take you to inappropriate websites of half dressed women that will pop up on your computer every time you turn it on; just trust me it is raunchy and sexually explicit. However, this does not mean we are going to be reading 50 Shades of Gray (at least not right away). We are six intelligent women with a love of a good read, a fine glass of wine and time to just be with the girls.  We chose the first book Wild, a biography by Cheryl Strayed, as our first book.

Wild sparked conversations both light and serious, ranging from finding ourselves in the wilderness of motherhood to brazilian bikini waxes. It was perfect. Each of us left smiling and feeling a sense of sisterhood, a connection that, when given the opportunity, we all meld into one another. This book club just reinforces the fact that women need each other. If nothing else but to sit shotgun, decipher road maps and remind one other to laugh as we miss our turns, and give support and congratulations when we reach our destination.

I cannot wait for next month.

Love & Light,
Stacy

Here was our first book club book. The edited versions of our reviews will be available for purchase at one of those inappropriate websites that popped up when you googled MILF, because when someone tells you not to look, you do.

And here are some photos from three gorgeous ladies I was honored to photograph.

Two such beautiful sisters, each with their own unique personalities. So much fun to photograph.

I love these two photos.
