Tangerine Rays

On the last day at the beach I set my alarm for 5:15 am to walk out to see the sun rise. I have never seen a beach sunrise, I just could not roll my vacationing self out of the sack to walk to the beach that early. However I knew if the weather was clear, it would make for some beautiful photos.

When I first walked out on the beach, I thought I had missed the sunrise; it was so bright outside. I waited for about 15 minutes before I saw this sliver of orange merge from the ocean's horizon. I was struck by how richly orange the sun was and how quickly it rose. It created a perfect disk of light casting rays of tangerine across the water.

This is one of the few times that when photographing the sun, it does not create a haze or glow around it; you can really see the perfect circle of light that it is. It is just another one of Mother Nature's gifts and witnessing it only increased my gratitude for it's magnificence.

Love & Light,
