Over the past few months Cole has gone from running FAR away from girls to chasing them. This is what he told me he made in art today...

Our favorite line from The Sandlot comes out of my mouth "You are killing me Smalls...", I say this whenever he does something that makes me want to bang my head on the wall. I asked WHY he was kissing Walker in the photo and he says, "Because she is cute, and I am going to marry her." And he has this smile on his face, it is SO completely innocent and sweet that I don't know whether to hug him or change the subject quickly. I do have to have the conversation with him about being cute versus being creepy. Do not be the creepy boy that chases girls all the time!! Then my whole line of questioning began about WHAT he talks about with his friends, closely followed by what is appropriate behavior and what is NOT. It is such a fine line because I WANT him to be able to tell me about girls he likes and what he is thinking, I just did not think it would start in Kindergarten!! Then I remembered back to my Kindergarten days. I (like most the girls in the class) had a crush on Jimmy Bennett. I am sure my mom had to listen to me talk about Jimmy though middle school.

Maybe it is less about Cole and more about me in my learning to let go a bit. To come to terms with the fact that I am not the center of his universe like when he was a baby but rather he is coming into his own by letting go of me a bit and I of him. OR maybe this is ALL because he is his FATHER'S child, and Brian's karma is coming back to haunt us all!

Love & Light,

Cole doing homework today.

Cole at a friend's birthday party.

I am not quite sure where the time has gone.

But he will always be MY baby.

  1. So, seriously this made me cry. I remember seeing Cole for the first time through the hospital nursery window. And now he's drawing pictures of the girl he wants to marry. Too, too much & so sweet @ the same time :)...

  2. Don't worry to much Sta, save it for middle school:) Right now he is just sweet and cute!!!, well, and bri's son!! xoxo

  3. Thanks for the reminder Amy!! You are right!!! xoxo Miss you.

  4. So Sweet ! Joe's best friend in pre-school was a girl named Bridget. I saw her a few years ago. Soooo gorgeous ! But I think it is great when a young boy looks at a girl as a friend or sweetie. He is sensitive and that means a lot.

  5. Stacy, I love the photo of Cole studying. It says so much about him and about you.
