The Gift of a Fine Hostess

The boys and I just left my friend's gingerbread house decorating extravaganza complete with a full on spread of candy, appetizers, hot mulled cider, and mimosas. The best part was that her house was tiny, there were 5 moms with 7 kids and it could not have been more perfect. There  is something to be said about a person who relishes entertaining. Someone who does not stress about her house being immaculate yet manages to pay fine attention to detail such as remembering the powder sugar to create the illusion of a dusting of snow over each child's completed masterpiece.

My girlfriend Tasha pre-made the gingerbread houses the night before, made the icing and then individually placed it in baggies with a hole cut in the corner for each child to glue endless amounts of marshmallows, skittles, m&m's and candy as far as the eye could see. She never broke a sweat. She never rolled her eyes at the kids running through the house with muddy shoes. She never dropped a curse word if something fell on the floor or something broke. She smiled, she laughed and she actually looked like she was having fun. My friend Laura and I were saying that we would have to take a few Xanax to host such a fine event. So I toast my morning mimosa to Tasha and all the ladies out there (like my Aunt Jane) who have the gift to entertain and create an atmosphere of fun and true Christmas spirit.

Love & Light,

I tried to use my new external flash at the gingerbread party only to have my battery die after the first few photos. This was a sign to put the camera away and enjoy the moment (and a few M&M's). And I did...

And below are some photos from a shoot I did a few weeks ago. This little girl was SO adorable and her parents are just wonderful!
