A New Love for the Game

We have two televisions downstairs. Today, one was playing the Yankees game, the other was broadcasting the Steelers. The boys would run back and forth between the two games and playing ball outside. I tried to retreat to my bedroom to "read" but was constantly interrupted on game updates. I can proudly recite the entire Yankee line-up. I used to only know Jeter and A-Rod because (1) they are hot and (2) they were dating celebrities so it was always on my Yahoo Entertainment News. Last night, Cole and I stayed up to watch the entire Yankee game long after Brian fell asleep. Robinson Cano hit a grand slam home run in the 9th inning and we squealed and cheered like we won the lotto. I was reminiscent of the 1986 Mets and watching all the series games with my dad. I think that was the last year I was ever interested in a ball game. However, I still have a soft spot in my heart for the New York Mets. Twenty-five years later, my son ignites that excitement in me again. Go Yankees!
