Wrap it Up

I have not officially finished my Happiness Project resolutions for the  month of July. This is not a good thing since we are already over a week into the month. However, one of my resolutions centers around my need to become better about remembering family and friend birthdays. I usually (not always) remember on the day and try to send out a quick e-mail or text with a 'happy birthday' message. But this method does not resonate well with me. I know when I receive a birthday card in the mail or when I am given a gift that is thoughtfully chosen and wrapped, it is a good feeling. A feeling that someone took the time to think of you.

So I took the opportunity with one of my girlfriend's birthday on Monday to thoughtfully wrap her gift. I have always 'cut corners' when it comes to wrapping gifts. Buy a bag, dunk present in bottom, top with tissue paper (hmmm... sounds awfully similar to my cooking style, do I see a pattern developing?) and this is the totality of the effort I exude. I do the same for Christmas gifts. To be honest, I am worse at the holidays. I am so consumed with my 'to buy' list that I have been known to forget to even wrap a few gifts. I embarrassingly gave the gifts to the person in the UPS box they were delivered in. Tacky, I know. I recently decided that I want the gift wrapping to reflect the thought I put into the gift, to show how much I care about the person. So I am putting effort into wrapping my gifts. And after doing a test run yesterday, I truly felt that I infused all the well wishes I have for the person into the wrapping. It was colorful and pretty and well... it made me happy. Which I hope when she opens it she will feel the love spill out with each ribbon she unties.

Here are some photos from yesterday.

Love & Light,

Cole set a table out front to have a little 'yard sale' consisting of a few items.

He was a bit bored. I have to say I don't think I have laughed that hard in awhile. The kid just cracks me up!!

Nobody came, so Nolan and I bought some items. I paid $3 for a McDonald's toy. Highway Robbery!

Our beautiful neighbor and friend, Elena. She had a new dress. LOVE it!
