Inspire Me

I started a new writing class tonight. I felt as though I needed to plug back into that creative self that I have been neglecting. I walked away with such a feeling of motivation and encouragement in both my writing and my sense of being. One of the things the instructor spoke about tonight was inspiration and how he does not like that word. How we as writers are always 'waiting' to be inspired to write. And really this is just an excuse not to write, because inspiration does not happen to you, you do not wait for it.  He recommends writing from an image, a thought, starting small and building your story from the inside out. The goal about being a writer is to just do it.

Writing is metaphorical for every life circumstance. If we want to become good at something, we practice, we work at it, we fail, we keep going. We don't wait until the talent is bestowed upon us. "Talent is not what drives ability," is what our instructor said tonight. "Hard work creates talent."

“Talent is a dreadfully cheap commodity, cheaper than table salt. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work and study” ~Stephen King

I did not take a single photograph today (gasp)...

Here are a few oldies but goodies.
