The Lost Boys

Cole had two buddies over today. I had to grab my journal as well as my camera while watching them play. They had me reminiscing about some forgotten sentiments that left me smiling.

1. The thrill of finding a "treasure" (a giant rock, a piece of plastic and a buried tennis ball).

2. Lunch tastes so much better when eaten outside in a fort.

3. Running water on a hot day. The possibilities are endless.

4. Being the bad guy is much more fun than the good guy.

5. Hot pavement on bare feet only stings for a second if you run really fast.

6. Rocks, leaves and tree roots mixed with hose water makes for great soup.

7. Empty toilet paper rolls make great binoculars.

8. Rainbow popsicles equal cool colored tongues.

9. Costumes create a more believable super hero.

10. The world of make-believe is better than Disney.

Watching the boys I thought about one of my favorite kid's movies, Peter Pan. I watched my "Lost Boys" run wildly through their imaginative worlds. Slightly envious that although I was there, I could not truly be there.

"If growing up means it would be beneath my dignity to climb a tree,
I won't grow up, never grow up, never grow up, not me. "
— Peter Pan and the Lost Boys
