Reset Button

Photography is like learning Spanish. I think I can speak the basic dialect until I am in the presence of someone who is fluent in the language and they lose me after "Hola". And if photography is Spanish, then the editing software, Photoshop & Lightroom are equivalent to learning French. I have never taken a French class, nor could I string a coherent sentence together. I learn something by immersing myself in it. Reading, researching, practicing and endless hours spent through trial and error. The older I get the more difficult it is to retain information. Therefore, learning two foreign languages while still trying to process my thoughts in English is, well, not easy and time consuming.

I remember my Mom saying to me when I was young," if something is not fun anymore or you are becoming stressed by it, put it down and walk away". I have years of unfinished "projects" in boxes under my bed that I put down and walked away from. However, I love photography and I even enjoy the editing process but there are times when I am so caught up in the learning and researching that I forget the reason why I love photography to begin with. It is not about the perfect photo or editing, it is capturing the moment, the spirit, the love.

So I am using the next few weeks to take a break from my foreign language classes, reading and researching. I am putting down the editing and photography books and am going to pick up a good fictional novel. I am hitting my reset button, taking a breather.  We leave for the beach in 4 days, what better time to start.

Love & Light,

Stacy

Here are some photos of sweet little Elsie I took on Sunday. Love this little girl!

  1. Stacy,

Have a wonderful vacation at Beach Joy. We have many fond memories from there. We are so sick of rain here that I'm ready to get in the car and leave. But Sat the shower day is looking great. We'll take pictures to send. Love, Paula
