A Mother's Day

Today is Mother's Day or at least for the next 45 minutes. All my boys are sound asleep and I have yet again broken a promise to myself to be in bed early. Brian asked what I wanted for Mother's Day. I told him, I wanted to be alone. To have the house to myself all day. Part of me felt guilty in saying that, but it was truly what I craved. I am with my boys all the time. Sometimes I forget what it is like to be alone. So Brian, the good guy that he is, took the boys out for most of the day. I laid in bed for hours, I did a few loads of laundry, I worked on editing photos and on a new logo. Not once did I change a diaper, get anyone a drink, or was I asked for anything. It was so quiet.

When the boys arrived back home, I jumped out of my bachelorette self into mama mode. Nolan in great need of a diaper change, Cole dying of thirst, baths to be taken, the bedtime routine to begin. Not until a few minutes ago when I went to check on the boys in their Star Wars bedspreads still clutching their lego guys, did I sit down next to them and realize the magnitude of this day. My mom told me tonight to cherish it all, event the craziness, because one day you won't have your baby home to kiss goodnight on Mother's Day. She's right. She always is...

Happy Mother's Day to my Mom, and all the amazing women who touch my life.

Love & Light,

  1. Happy Mother's Day to you too Stacy. It sounds like you had a wonderful day and that every day is wonderful with your lovely family. Your Mom is right, of course, enjoy every minute because the time passes too fast. Remember that you will always be a parent even when your children are grown. Grown up children are also a very
    special joy. Love, Paula

  2. You are right Paula. That made me feel good to hear. I hope you had a wonderful Mother's day. I know your kids adore you and your grandkids too! Thank you for all the love and support. I am sorry I will miss Amy's shower but we leave for the Beach Joy the same day!! I am sending her a big box of goodies this week. Thanks again for your wise words. Stacy
