Attention Boys and Girls...

I took Cole to a birthday party today and we picked up a fellow classmate of his to ride along, Lizzie. When we pick up a boy buddy of Cole's to go somewhere, they chat the entire way. About important things like Star Wars, knock-knock jokes, Derek Jeter and football. They are LOUD, and borderline crazy. It was so interesting to me to pick up a girl to ride along. There was very little conversation and what was said, was quiet and polite. I was not used to this...

Then we arrived at the party and Lizzie found her girl pals and Cole found his guys and the real party started. The girls were silly, hugging spontaneously and full of giggles. The boys chased, threw wadded up paper napkins and talked about who was going to win the Superbowl. They were equally loud and equally full of energy. I rounded the kids up at the end of the party and we were back into the car. Cole and Lizzie joked with each other a little bit more on the way home.

The older Cole becomes and the more interaction I have with his peers, I realize how different boys and girls really are. They communicate differently, they interact with each other differently and they perceive the world in slightly different colors. This makes sense when I think about Brian and I, and stories from girlfriends and their spouses. How a man responds to a situation is often TOTALLY different than a woman would. Not right or wrong, just different.

I know it was my karma to have two boys. Mostly because I could never understand a boy/man's decision making or their thought process growing up. Now I am the mother of two testosterone driven lads. I am not sure this will help me to understand the male thought process in the near future, but I don't think that is the ultimate goal. I think I am supposed to nurture their spirits to create strong self-esteems and teach them to respect their Mama, so in turn, they will respect other women.

Here are some photos from today.

Love & Light,

Stacy
