Wii are family...

Yes. I was one of those moms who swore I would not buy video games for my kids. I would not allow them to sit inside and obsess over getting onto a new level while there was daylight outside or perfectly good books to read. And then one rainy day I caved... You think it will NEVER happen to you, but it does. And before you know it you are taking lessons from your 5 year old on how to pick plays and throw the football to the little green wide receiver that is standing down the field or how to use your light saber to take out General Grievous.

I still take the boys outside when it is nice. We still play restaurant and build tents. We read and play cards. But if it is cold and we are still in our pajamas at one o'clock on a Saturday, I join in a Wii bit of fun. I like being the student instead of the teacher as Cole directs me in how to maneuver through various levels of play. And I see how empowered he feels in having taught his Mom how to use the remote. I agree this is not a substitution for playing ball outside or doing something that encourages use of their imaginations, but I decided to let go of the guilt and surrender a Wii bit.

Here are some photos from today.

Love & Light,

We went out to eat. Nolan loved the appetizer!

Cole holds Nolan hand in the car.

Falling asleep on the way to the store...

A beer with dinner.

  1. Great pictures as usual! I LOVE the one of the boys holding hands in the car - how sweet is that? And I hope the beer was yours :)...
