The Family Walk Revealed

You know when you are driving your car and you see a sweet family going for a walk, the kids on their bikes, the black lab strutting alongside, and you think "Awe. How nice". Well, here is the reality behind going for a" family walk", with a toddler, a preschooler and a dog.

1. It takes 20 minutes to convince everyone to get out of their pajamas, change diapers and pick out clothes.

2. It takes another 15 minutes to find boots, hats, mittens, coats and get everyone dressed warmly.

3. 10 minutes to get bikes out and check if there is enough air in the tires.

4. 5 minutes to find dog's leash and hook him to the tree while you fill tires and strap on helmets.

5. Another 5 minutes to convince your tantruming toddler that he cannot ride his brother's big bike.

6. 5 minutes to go BACK into the house for a foul smelling diaper change.

7. 45 minutes to go three blocks due to leashes tangled in tricycle tires, a toddler that wants to push not ride the bike, a preschooler who is flying through stop signs and two parents who are feeling that the walk is more stressful than fun.

So next time you see that family, you  know the one. The parents are pulling bikes and leashes, chasing kids, carrying back arching toddlers who want to jump in the creek. Send them love. They need it.

Here are some photos from today.

Love & Light,
