Run Baby Run

My running sabbatical came to an end yesterday. As all vacations must. After a 3 month hiatus, I have come to the conclusion that there is no other exercise quite as challenging for my body and mind. And despite my love/hate relationship with this tedious sport, I know it is what keeps me strong.

So I ran two miles yesterday.  More parts of my body jiggled this time than I remember from my last run 3 months ago. The pain in my knees, the ache in my feet, my breath trying to keep up with my pace. And about a mile in, it just stopped. My obsessive thoughts were distracted by the physical exertion and my head was QUIET! This is what I love about running. All the little thoughts about things that don't really matter but do, the laundry lists, the worries, the shoulds and should nots. It just stops. I listen to my breath, the beat of the music on my ipod, breath fully and deeply and just put one foot in front of the other. Symbolic of how I aim to live my life.

Here are some awesome running quotes...

"I always loved was something you could do by yourself, and under your own power. You could go in any direction, fast or slow as you wanted, fighting the wind if you felt like it, seeking out new sights just on the strength of your feet and the courage of your lungs."  Jesse Owens

"Running is the greatest metaphor for life, because you get out of it what you put into it."
-Oprah Winfrey

"Ask yourself: 'Can I give more?'. The answer is usually: 'Yes'."
-Paul Tergat, Kenyan professional marathoner

Love & Light,

A sweet thank you note from Cole (with a little help from Daddy). It made my day today.

When Cole wants to paint, he goes BIG!
